Current Construction Workers' Labour Rates in Nigeria (January 2024)

Engr. Osaz', Nigeria's foremost construction blogger keeps you up-to-date with the current labour rates for the construction industry across Nigeria.

These rates were carefully drafted based on current market realities, deep research and wide consultations.

We hope you know that it is not within our powers to determine what any worker earns or how companies pay their construction workers. Therefore these rates only serve as a guide. We are always updating them from time to time.

Generally, 1 day = 8 hours of work and an hour of break in a 9-hour stretch

Site Work normally resumes 8:00am and close 5:00pm

Half Night Duties = 6:00pm - 11:00pm with 30 minutes break.
Full Night Duties = 8: 00 pm - 5:00 am with an hour break

Don't keep this information to yourself.
Always refer colleagues and other persons to my blog.
Thank you and Success on your project!

  2. Fantastic work you're doing Engr Osaz. However, a bit of reservation on the concrete casting rate. Generally it goes with the volume being dealt with and also, the work section. Strategically, one can achieve concrete casting for 4000/m3 depending on your work flow and bargaining power.

  3. Hello Sir engr. Osz' Thank you for the good work you are doing. I am very much glad to see you educating the world with the knowledge and experience you have.
Pls, I also have one reservation on one of the rate definition i.e. Trench excavation, your rate is quoted as per sqm but I think it should either be meter or cubic meters (if it's meters there should be a conditional properties )

    1. Okay. Thanks for your observation and sorry for the late response; engrossed in work.
Let me clarify. Usually trenches do not reach up to 1-m in width so we adopt the length by depth in determining its lateral size par quantity. That's why we use square-metre for trench excavation but this is not the same for pit excavation.

I for one I have been in the construction work field for long, but, I must confess that asides from bursting into your blog tonight, I CAN REALLY SAY THAT I HAVE BEEN IN THE DARKEN PART OF IT. Perhaps, maybe because I have been there as a labourer. But, honestly I expected to have advanced graceful from labourer to a more skillful jobs..., like truck driver, drilling, excavation, epoxy flooring, p.o.p finishing, etc but most especially manual cleaning could have been the best for me because, I also love to start a business as a janitor. Please, sir kindly assist my vision and I ll be indebted to you sir. Yours Michael - 08127276022
